10 French Baby Brands to Dress Your Adorable Tot In

As you can tell, our city guides are back this week with a special French edition for Shoppers out there who are interested in getting the latest threads for your little tot !

Our recent trip to France allowed us to sneak a peek inside the quintessential Parisian way of dressing up—yes, even for your mini-me(s). Thanks to our Boxers and lucky chance encounters/exploration, we stumbled upon a few good baby & kids apparel brands that you can ShopandBox from France with the help of our Boxers. From Bonpoint to Jacadi, here’s what you need to ensure your kid’s just as well-dressed as you are:

Bonpoint

Back in 1975, the first Bonpoint store was opened to public, allowing them to dress their children in the finest embroideries possible. 40 years later in 2015, the brand’s creative director Christine Innamorato launched its couture collection – not something you see every other day from the usual baby & kids apparel brands. But it’s all down to the little details: Bonpoint’s precise yet invisible hemlines, Calais embroideries and amazingly comfortable clothing are well-executed by a team of in-house designers who actually have the passion for both children and fashion. If you’re hesitant about the prices, just know that a well-tailored French creation is unparalleled to anything you can find elsewhere.

Quite like its name, Frenchy Yummy – or as they call it in France, “delicieusement Français”, is popular for its fashionable and super trendy body suits that incorporate materials such as brushed cotton and Swarovski Crystals. Created in 2003 by Cirstel Vizioli who launched the label after the birth of her daughter, Frenchy Yummy’s fun-printed onesies and playsuits are our favourite, thanks to its quirky illusion motifs of bags, hats and bows.

If you’ve got extra to splurge for your toddler, Jacadi is the best luxe childrenswear brand you should explore for fashionable yet simple clothing. Inspired by vintage materials and silhouettes, Jacadi is know for its Les Emblématiques, basically reinvented iconic pieces that are still well-loved by parents and kids of today. A popular best-seller is their classic pair of Mary-Jane flats for your little tot to mark her passage from infancy to childhood (the Charles IX). If there’s one thing you won’t miss from Jacadi, it’s the combination of high quality exquisite fabrics in refreshing colour palettes crafted with expertise.

Want your daughter to grow up with the best sense of style while never losing her childlike innocence? That Parisian flair is exactly what Lili Gaufrette captures – a world of dreams and poetry where the little Mademoiselle is decked in classic cuts imbued with modern details. The prettiest items that caught our eyes include tiered chiffon dresses, chambray frocks perfect for springtime, and the sweetest hair accessories such as ribboned headbands and hats that even we can’t help but want for ourselves!

Petit Bateau

Out of all these brands, Petit Bateau’s history is one that can’t be topped. Petit Bateau was actually first opened as a hosiery factory in 1893 by founder Pierre Valton. Later on, his son Etienne was inspired by a classic French nursery rhyme when he cut the legs off long johns that were worn at the time, resulting in the creation of the classic cotton pants as we know today! Petit Bateau is world-renowned for its exceptional knitted clothing and high-quality cotton pieces—from the yarn quality to the final product, each step is strictly controlled and products are tested from every angle before leaving the factory. Read all about its impressive history and iconic pieces including the raincoat, bodysuit and sailor jumper here.

There isn’t anything quite like Seraphine’s Diana Award Collection in the market. Championed as the go-to maternity and baby brand of celebrities and even royalty, Seraphine was commissioned by the Diana Award foundation to create a baby wear range using the iconic Diana pastel tartan – 12% of sales of every piece will go to the foundation. If you’re wondering, the Diana pastel tartan is woven in Scotland, and was reinvented with contrasting fabrics by founder and creative director Cecile Reinaud. This utterly-pretty clothing range for baby girls has taken a spot in our hearts – how can you resist those dresses and coats in the loveliest pastel shades?

In 1977, Catherine Painvin founded Tartine et Chocolat with an aim to dress children in chic yet unpretentious clothing. The exclusive Garda motif and Tartine et  Chocolat stripe made waves in the children’s fashion market, later on expanding its product ranges to soft toys, fragrances, and children’s bedroom furniture. Now under the creative direction of Emilie Zannier, Tartine et Chocolat offers classic dresses, cardigans, overalls and even polo tees that are simple, fuss-free, yet undeniably Parisian-chic. If your tot’s a major fan of plushies, its range of soft toys might just make his/her day – find out more here (our favourite has got to be the absolutely adorable Léon the hedgehog!)
