Neogen Real Fresh Green Tea Cleansing Stick

This is the first time I’m using a cleansing stick and it is essentially like a bar soap but in a stick form – how handy is that?

How to use: On a damp face (not dripping wet), place the cleaning stick on your cheeks and apply it on in a circular motion, then using your palms to lather the soap with a little more water and work across your face.

Pros: Easy to use, foams up well and clears makeup residue in an instant (but refrain from using it near your eye area), great for travelling because there will be no leakage.

Cons: Stings the eye – so make sure your forehead is not dripping wet as the water droplets will carry the product and sting the eyes quite painfully.

Scent: Soothing green tea scent that doesn’t stay for after washing.

Son and Park Beauty Water

I used to skip the toner in my “cleanse, tone, and moisturise” regime but quickly realised that this step is essential to better prep your skin in order to absorb the moisture and good stuff from essences and creams. You can also use this as a face mist by transferring it into a small spray bottle and bringing it in your handbag in case you need a quick refreshing spritz throughout the day.

How to use: After cleansing, use cotton pads to pat the product directly on the face, or pour some product onto your palms and apply directly over your face. I like to use it with cotton pads in the evening to remove any last bit of makeup, and in the mornings with my palms to gently wake my skin up.

Pros: Absorbs quickly into the skin without leaving a tight, taut feeling.

Cons: None that I know of!

Scent: This smells a lot better than SK-II’s facial treatment essence, I’d like think of it as a nice fresh laundry scent that doesn’t linger.

A’pieu Micro Foil Mask

This gold mask is such a glamorous sight to behold although you might be looking like a DIY version of “Man in the Iron Mask” – it sure sets you into a festive mood!

How to use: On a clean face, apply the lower part of the mask first before the top part and leave it on for 15-20 minutes (although I usually leave it on for about 25 minutes). Remove mask and massage remaining essence on your face.

Pros: Skin feels hydrated without the need to add on any other products before bed.

Cons: None that I know of.

Scent: Smells like a regular face mask without a strong fruity or sweet scent.

Aritaum Ginger Sugar Lip Scrub

Korean Essentials

I used to brush my lips with the same toothbrush after brushing my teeth but with the endless beauty choices I get in here in Korea, a proper lip scrub can be quite therapeutic too.

How to use: I use it twice a week but you can use it daily by damping your lips and then gently scrubbing it with your ring finger. Rinse off after scrub.

Pros: Removes dry skin and leaves a pleasant pinkish hue on your lips.

Cons: The slight chance of actually licking it because it will remind you of decadent cinnamon sugar pretzels.

Scent: Freshly baked Cinnamon buns with a faint ginger scent.

Mizon Collagenic Aqua Volume Lip Essence

Korean Essentials

Did you know that our lips are vulnerable to sunburn? Lip balm or essence with SPF is one of the key products you can use to protect your lips from harmful UV rays.

How to use: I use it after a lip scrub and leave it on overnight and/or as a lip base before putting on lipstick.

Pros: Moisturised lips and a much smoother lipstick application.

Cons: Can’t find any yet!

Scent: Sweet and fruity.

Numero 3 Day Light Essence

If you don’t already know, the Korean skincare regime is beyond the average 3-step routine (cleanse, tone and moisturize). They have at least 8 steps that includes essence, serum, ampoules, masks, and more! Essence is basically a lightweight version of serum that you can layer on before serum and gel/cream moisturiser. Think of it as the rum to your fruit cake – one that locks in the moisture before the final frosting. You can certainly do without adding essence/serum into your skincare regime but if you are looking to up your anti-ageing and hydration game, you’ll benefit from all these steps in the long run. It’s pretty much akin to vitamins and supplements for your face!

*If you would like to know more about the “differences” of essence and serums, this would be a good read.

How to use: Use it after toner and before moisturiser. I like to pump thrice of this product on my finger tips then gently rub together and apply over the face.

Pros:  This essence is lightweight and has SPF, absorbs quickly into the skin and great for sensitive skin as well.

Cons: Not that I know of!

Scent: Fresh garden with morning dew.
