If you’re one to stand in the vitamin aisle spending hours reading labels or looking up multivitamin reviews in search for the one— we’d like for you to meet Ritual’s Essential for Women. Made with 9 essential ingredients, this two-a-day multivitamin clears through the clutter of supplements and daily vitamins.
Ritual is a stand out brand for creating a multivitamin specifically for the unique everyday needs of women everywhere. They highlight the importance of transparency by being clear about their ingredients, where it is sourced, and manufactured— all found on their website. For instance, their Vitamin K12 (which helps deposit calcium into bones) is sourced from Oslo, Norway, and manufactured by Kappa Biosciences. We also love the simplicity of this USD30 per month subscription, which gives you a 30-day supply of two-a-day vitamins. Perfect for busy hands-on mummas and working gals on the go!
We chat we founder, CEO, and momtrepreneur Kat Schneider on how she’s revolutionising the multivitamin industry.

1. Tell us more about how Ritual started.
I started Ritual when I was four months pregnant. I cared more than ever about what I was putting in and on my body. I switched out the deodorant, toothpaste and other products I was using daily for ones with better ingredients. When I took a look at my vitamins, I realized that the same potentially harmful ingredients (aluminum, carrageenan, etc.) I was avoiding throughout my house were in the vitamins I was taking everyday. The more I researched the vitamin industry, the more I realized that it was a black box. I couldn’t find a brand I trusted or really connected with, so I decided to build my own from the ground up. The result is a totally reinvented daily vitamin.
Simplicity has also always been a driving force for our brand since the beginning. Our lives are chaotic and unpredictable. Most of us don’t always make the best choices when it comes to our health, because the healthy choices are not always the “fun ones”, “the tasty ones” or the ones that give us instant gratification. And yet, we all want to feel great. That’s why we’ve created one single product that simplifies taking vitamins into one daily ritual. We make it so easy to have healthy habits, that feeling great is not a choice, it’s a given.

2. What sets Ritual apart from other healthcare brands?
The big difference is in quality, transparency, and simplicity. At Ritual, we believe that consumers deserve to know the facts and that they are smart. We don’t believe in hiding any bit of information. In fact, we get excited to share the research, the scientist and info about all of our ingredients because we are so obsessed with what we’ve formulated.
We also have a completely traceable supply chain. Unlike most multivitamin brands, we share every scientist and every source and research behind every nutrient we use on our website. We think traceability is transparency 2.0 and that consumers deserve to know exactly what they’re putting into their bodies.
3. Can you tell us how your branding reflects Ritual’s vision and mission?
Our branding is bright and optimistic, matching the tone of our brand and also the effects of our product. The logo is meant to look like a sun on the horizon, which speaks to the daily well-being Essential for Women strives for. We’re a very streamlined, modern brand, and I think that manifests in everything from product development to packaging design to our typography.
4. As a lady boss and entrepreneur, can you give our Shoppers an insight to your everyday morning routine to get you started for the day?
I’m an early riser so my mornings are busy! I usually wake up around 5 am when my daughter starts calling for me. We’ll read books, play, and cuddle for a while before having breakfast together. Usually we’ll have a hot grain like brown rice porridge or steel cut oats. I make my hot cereal more savory by adding some Cafe Gratitude kimchee and a fresh farmers market avocado, along with some shiso flakes and cold pressed olive oil. I’ll add stone ground almond butter, coconut oil and fresh berries for my daughter’s version.
After breakfast (usually around 7:30), I’ll take a quick shower – really one of the only parts of my day I spend alone as a mom and entrepreneur!
Before I head out to the office, I’ll take my Essential for Women (sometimes with a mix of coconut water and blue algae) and give my daughter a kiss goodbye. I always walk to our office on Melrose in West Hollywood, which only takes 20 minutes. Most days I’ll grab a matcha with someone on my team and mix it with Moon Juice’s Lait de Coco – it’s a perfect morning pick-me-up! By 9:30am, I’m back at the office, listening to Nina Simone and ready to take on the day.
5. Can you tell us about particular customer success stories that stand out to you?
Every day we have so many women tell us that this is the first vitamin they’ve ever been able to take without nausea and that we’re the first vitamin company that has actually made making vitamins fun and enjoyable. Customers report an overall sense of wellness and happiness, as well as improved skin and energy. We’ve heard everything, from people telling us their mood is better so they argue less with their husband to customers sharing that they have more energy and are able to tackle tasks they haven’t gotten to in years like organizing their closets.
6. The multivitamin industry often gets a bad rap for pseudoscience. How do you respond to skeptics and earn their trust?
We like to say that Ritual is a brand created for skeptics, by skeptics. I founded Ritual to combat the lack of transparency and skepticism in the vitamin industry.
The information available to consumers about traditional vitamins really is confusing. That’s where we come in. At Ritual, our in-house scientists applied the most recent and heavily researched clinical findings to develop Essential for Women with only the ingredients you need in their most effective, cleanest forms. Through Ritual’s ingredient database, consumers are able to trace every ingredient back to its original source and review a list a the top studies our scientists used to develop our vitamin.
7. Is Ritual’s Essential for Women suitable for ladies of all ages, and lifestyles, including pregnant or menopausal women?
Essential for Women is safe for women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or menopausal, however, we do recommend you consult a doctor regarding supplementation in those life stages as Ritual’s Essential for women might not contain some of the key nutrients you need. Essential for Women was developed for women ages 18-50.
8. Our cautious Shoppers out there would like to know if there are any side effects or allergens in Ritual’s multivitamins.
At Ritual, we follow what the FDA established for dietary supplements in 2007 called “current Good Manufacturing Practice” (cGMP) regulations requiring that manufacturers evaluate their products through testing identity, purity, strength, and composition. We not only tested for stability with our manufacturers, but also did 3rd-party testing for potency of active ingredients, adulterants like heavy metals and microbes, allergens, rancidity and other unwanted contaminants.
We specifically source ingredients that are allergen-free including vegan, non-GMO, gluten-free, dairy-free, and without synthetic fillers or colorants. Ritual’s Essential for women also uses a vegan delayed-release capsule delayed-release capsule that bypasses the stomach to promote absorption, and prevent nausea.
9. With the undeniable success of Essential for Women we can’t help but ask, what’s next for Ritual?
We see ourselves continuing to pioneer this idea of traceability within the vitamin industry. At the moment, we are super focused on getting our perfected daily vitamin into as many women’s’ hands as possible. It’s so exciting to see how we are having a direct impact on people’s lives and their health each and every day. We’re seeing a community of strong and empowered women rallying around the brand across our social channels and that’s something we plan to continue to manifest.
10. Lastly, any words of wisdom or advice you can give to empower women everywhere?
Don’t be hard on yourself! When I first started Ritual, it was easy to feel like a failure when I made mistakes, but you have to look at the bigger picture and feel proud of your accomplishments rather than getting caught up in things you can’t change.
