Influencer of the Week: Denise Keller, TV Host and Yoga Instructor

Former MTV VJ Denise Keller is well-known for her effortless on-screen presence and infectious smile, but little did you know that she’s also a certified yoga instructor who conducts private yoga classes, workshops and retreats in her current country of residence, Singapore. If you follow her Instagram handle here, you’ll know that the Discovery Channel Travel producer and presenter is an avid yogi who enjoys finding inner peace while she globe-trots for a living. Denise attests to spending five to 10 minutes daily on the mat in order to destress and reset her day – something that we all could use in our busy lifestyles.

Recently, Denise placed her very first ShopandBox order to get her hands on the Dharma Yoga Wheel Kit, a nifty tool that has greatly helped with her daily yoga sessions. If you’re a budding yogi or enthusiast who’s curious about this, take a look here for more information on how you can get into a deeper stretch easily.

In a nutshell, the Dharma Wheel is a pretty effective and fun way to open the chest, shoulders, back, and hip flexors in order to develop balance, strength, and flexibility. This simple but handy exercise wheel is used to help beginners and advanced yoga practitioners achieve backbends and loosen tight muscles before yoga classes. If you’re worried about the size of the wheel and how you’d lug it to class, fret not as it’s actually made to fit in your gym bag or carry-on luggage!

We managed to ask Denise a few questions on her yoga practice, life philosophy, and what she loves about the Dharma Yoga Wheel Kit:

1. How often do you practice Yoga?

I try to practice 3 hours of yoga everyday. If I can’t make a group class for work reasons, I generally practice in my yoga room in my house. More importantly, I try to balance the stronger practice with softer yoga like Yin Yoga and short meditations when my schedule frees up.

2. What made you decide to purchase the Dharma Yoga Kit and what do you love about it?

I have been eyeing the Dharma Wheel for a while now – since it popped up on social media. I was quite fascinated by what I saw (backbends, inversions, core work) but was too shy to buy one. I like trends to simmer down first before committing to a new yoga prop. Many of my yoga friends had insisted I get one soon as it’s one of the best assistant tools for deeper but safer backbends. I’m so in love with it now – I can’t imagine yoga without it now. It’s part of my daily ritual now and so thankful I got it for a steal using Shopandbox.

3. What is your philosophy in life and what is your favourite saying?

Just be a nice human being. It’s really that simple. Show a little kindness everyday and smile, laugh and cackle at things that may throw you off a little. Stress is so overrated.

4. What yoga paraphernalia or fitness item is on your ShopandBox Wishlist?

[laughs] The list is very long! I have so many wishes for yoga clothes, yoga mats, yoga props, and more. It’s an endless list, basically.
