Lilly Pulitzer for Target

Known for their bright, colorful floral prints and iconic shift dresses (made famous by the late Jackie Kennedy Onassis,) apparel brand Lilly Pulitzer is the pioneer of American Resort Wear. If you’re not sure what that embodies, think Palm Beach and splashes of bold hues on everything from tote bags to palazzo pants.

The story goes that American socialite Lilly Pulitzer was squeezing orange juice at her juice stand in Palm Beach and realized that it was making a mess out of her clothes, so she sought to hide them the classiest way possible—by bringing the best out of these splashes (naturally!) She created her own shift dress—sleeveless, collarless and slightly body-skimming without being too restrictive—and soon it became known as the “Lilly shift.” When her dresses became more popular than her juice, Lilly Pulitzer, Inc. was then born. The company now offers men, women and kidswear along with jewelry and accessories, and is famous for their printed swimwear and beach apparel in a fun array of pastels and bright hues.

As this limited edition collection will be mostly available online, it’s an added plus that Target offers free shipping for online orders above $25, a significant change from their previous limit of $50. All the more the reason to get your hands on these absolutely chic dresses and eye-catching accessories.
