Pamper Your Skin with These Organic and All-Natural Makeup Brands

Organic-Natural-Makeup-featured

Planning on revamping your beauty routine with healthier products that wouldn’t harm your skin? Before you pick out the next organic, all-natural stamped makeup range in your nearest drugstore, this is what you gotta know about major buzzwords that are integral:

What is “Natural”?

This term isn’t regulated by any government institute, and it very well may be a marketing trick by beauty brands. Technically, a natural ingredient is anything that is a plant, mineral or animal by-product, but the only way you can go about this is to read the ingredients listed on the label carefully. Beauty site Byrdie suggests to pick a product that lists synthetic ingredients on the bottom of the list—indicating that these constitute the least of the entire formula.

What is “Organic”?

While natural denotes what it is (roughly), organic refers to how the ingredient was created—and it has to be prepped and grown sans antibiotics, pesticides, growth hormones, GMOs or chemical fertilisers. The usage of this word is regulated by different governing bodies across the globe. In USA, the equivalent would be USDA-certified (via a logo on the label) which indicates that almost 100% of the ingredients have been grown and processed as mentioned above. If there isn’t a logo on the bottle, don’t buy it!

Below, we highlight 7 natural and organic makeup brands that you can explore if you’re planning to invest in skin saviours as such:

Ok, I’m confused, based on the title of this article it says all natural and organic products. Why is Milk Makeup on this list? While it might be vegan and cruelty free is neither organic and a far cry from natural. Hardly any of their products aontains any “natural” oils that you mentioned It’s very “popular” blur stick while being silicone free contains skin irritant and Polymethyl methacrylate which is PLASTIC! Please PLEASE do an informed and proper research before sharing articles like this.

    Thanks for the recommendations Anna!

I’m glad you point out that sometimes brands ‘green-wash’ – claim to be natural as a marketing gimmick. So misleading for the consumer!

I’ve heard a lot of great things about W3ll People. I had a quick look at their lipstick ingredients. I’m impressed! In addition to being vegan, they’re also gluten and GMO free. As you mention, their star ingredient is great – aloe vera. Plus, instead of animal product ingredients like beeswax, they use great alternatives like candelilla wax, jojoba oil, and red raspberry seed oil in their lipsticks!

For any readers looking to go natural (or vegan), we recently posted a piece exposing some lipstick ingredients to avoid. Plus, we discuss future lipstick innovations that will be particularly exciting for natural ingredient fans!

Thanks again for the brand recommendations!
